General Info > FAQ

Practices and Locations:

We will be holding 10-12 practices that will start in late May after the PAGLA and Middle school seasons are over. We do not want to interfere with them. They should be your first priority. This year we will be rotating practices between the East and West as each graduation level so no one is traveling too far. We have submitted permits again for Wilson Farm, Mill Road in Devon and Garrett Mill and Kelly Field in Newtown Square. This will be posted shortly. Also, we can provide you with contact information of teammates if you wish to form carpools. These practices will be in the evenings during the week.

Based on the talent we saw at the try outs we will be having teams at these age groups:

  • 2012-1
  • 2013-1
  • 2014-1
  • 2015-2
  • 2016-1

Tournaments:

We will be participating in the following tournaments. Not everyone plays on every day of the tournament. You may only be playing on one date but we will not know that until the schedules are released.

  • Lax by the Sea | June 12th and 13th (All TEAMS)
  • CAMP: Lace Em Up for La June 21st-24th ( Benefits the LA Foundation: http://www.laurameiklekoch.org )
  • Lax For The Cure | July 9th, 10th, 11th (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016)*
  • All Star Express | July 16-18 (All Teams)

*Lax for the Cure was sold out at the 2012 team and so we will most likely be entering them in to the USTC Girls Upper Atlantic July 9th

Club Dues:

Our club dues are right in line with the area clubs. There are many items that go in to these fees. There are NO additional fees after these are paid. We break them down in to (3) payments to help you.

  • $225 - All new members MUST purchase a gear package which includes: racerback uniform, kilt, pinnie, shorts, embroidered gear bag and embroidered sweatshirt (returning members do not need to purchase these items but there are new items available if they would like) You will receive an email when this is due.
  • $310 payments- these two payments cover your tournaments, the “Lace Em Up for La Camp”, field rentals, turf rental, pizza party, coaches, equipment and insurance.

If you are in need of financial assistance we have a couple part scholarships available. These are evaluated on a case by case basis.

What separates Envy and other premiere club teams?

Envy Answer…Our training, coaches, curriculum, and attention to each player. After every event, players will be given a personal 1 page evaluation on their play. Each evaluation will contain positive feedback, improvement opportunities, and techniques to help correct the improvement areas.

Do I have to tryout for an Envy Team?

Envy Answer…We host team tryouts early fall. We strongly encourage players to tryout early fall. If for some reason you have a prior engagement, please contact us. We will work together to find a time for you to try out. Please note, no matter when a player joins Envy Lacrosse, the membership fees for 2009 season will remain the same.

Are the events mandatory?

Envy Answer…Each player is expected to attend all tournaments. Appropriate notification to your coach will exempt you from a possible fine of $50 and chance of losing your spot on the team. Certain exceptions will be made for extreme circumstances.

How does Envy Lacrosse communicate with the members?

Envy Answer…We will post as much organization/team information on our website as possible. However, we rely heavily on email to communicate last minute adjustments and announcements.

How are the teams divided for the tournaments?

Envy Answer…Unless there are special circumstances, players will compete in their own age group. Coaches evaluate each talent pool and determine the top players for each team. Placements are based on several criteria’s:

  1. Attitude
  2. Athleticism & potential
  3. Lacrosse field sense
  4. Work ethic & persistence
  5. Coach ability & ability to execute direction
  6. Skill - ball handling, etc.

Do I have to pay additional fees?

Envy Answer…Yes. You are responsible for all travel and hotel fees. We have tried to schedule convenient 1 day local tournaments to help with costs. However, other tournaments may require additional travel and hotel fees. More information will be communicated as we secure tournament commitments.

Are there any scholarship opportunities?

Envy Answer…Yes. Please contact Mary Fran Riffel or Laura Capuano for further details.

What if I want MORE Envy Lacrosse opportunities? More help?

Envy Answer…Please contact Mary Fran Riffel or Laura Capuano. They will provide you with the appropriate help.

Please contact us if you have additional questions. If it is playing time issue, first please have your daughter ask her coach what SHE can do to get better. We would like to teach our girls to be independent and learn how to handle these situations as this is the way it will be when they move up to the high school and HOPEFULLY collegiate play as well as the working world!
